Wednesday

Hello world!

Yay, it’s the first post on the martinblasick.wordpress.com location. This is the new home of the Wednesday’s Song blog. All WS related topics will be here plus all my other endeavors.

Here’s another video from last week’s coffehouse performance. Thanks again to Ramakega for hooking me up!!!

Weekend on Stage

I’ve got two shows this weekend. On Friday, April 4 I’m at Unurban for a short 15 minute set at 7:15. And then on Sunday April 6 at 9pm I’ll be at Air Conditioned on Pico in Santa Monica. It’s going to be good to sing and play because I miss that stage. See you there.  April, 4 2008 at Talking Stick

Give Me Love

It’s a whole new Wednesday’s Song. No more song/week. Now it’s one song per month. The songs were recorded fast and furious. Next round will be more produced. I’ve got quite a few ideas started but not polished. I was feeling guilty leaving my “children” orphaned. I’m stoked to present the first one “Give Me Love”. This video was directed by my talented friend W. Scott Prestwood.

Give Me Love

The cold wind bites into my skin
In every place that you’ve been
I’m building a mountain out of my mistakes
I’m running on credit for whatever it takes

Give me love
Give me hope
Give me dreams to soothe my soul
Give me love

A headlight trance and I’m in the way
Still I taste the words you say
I’m caught in the fire for the very last time
I turning away from the things I’ve left behind

Give me love
Give me hope
Give me dreams to soothe my soul
Give me love

Love goes round and round and round
While the earth keeps spinning round
I wouldn’t trade my heart
For a place to start
For a tiny part of you

Give me love

A Credible Threat

This title is from a songfight.org weekly song competition. I failed to complete it by the Dec 24 deadline but I’ve finished it anyway cause I got into it. I want get a song or two into songfight for some fun. I just need to synchronise with my WS writing so it can get used for both.

TaDa!!! This is the 13th WS! That’s 25% of the 52 songs I want to do on this project. Feeling thrilled. Feeling like the next batch should have some different flavor. Feeling like it’s time to get artwork together for the physical CD and thinking ahead about a boxed set of the whole deal. In the meantime I’m always thinking about a good rhyme for fire (it’s joke cause everyone knows the only possible song rhyme for fire is desire. lol)

A Credible Threat

A credible threat
A credible foe
A credible enemy
Beyond my control

I lost my way today at five o five
When I looked in my barrista’s eyes
I like to keep things under control you know
One magic moment made a break in my flow

A credible threat
A break in my walls
A credible enemy
Beyond my control

I find myself back at the scene in line
Rethink my order fifteen times
A witty conversation to break the ice; “extra foam”
I’m going to tell her just as soon as I can get her alone

Today she looked at me and smiled and said
“I’m starting another job instead”
‘But what about us?’ I heard myself say so smooth
She looked in my eyes and said “Here’s what you are to me”

A credible threat
An invincible foe
A magical mystery
Beyond my control

A credible threat
A break in my wall
A worthy opponent
You made me lose control

A credible threat
I’m out of my shell

A credible threat
A credible enemy
Beyond my control

Percy Bysshe Shelley

The new song is based on the poem To Jane by Percy Bysshe Shelley. I’m recording it right now….

Here it is.

TO JANE

The keen stars were twinkling,
And the fair moon was rising among them,
Dear Jane.
The guitar was tinkling,
But the notes were not sweet till you sung them
Again.

As the moon’s soft splendour
O’er the faint cold starlight of Heaven
Is thrown,
So your voice most tender
To the strings without soul had then given
Its own.

The stars will awaken,
Though the moon sleep a full hour later
To-night;
No leaf will be shaken
Whilst the dews of your melody scatter
Delight.

Though the sound overpowers,
Sing again, with your dear voice revealing
A tone
Of some world far from ours,
Where music and moonlight and feeling
Are one.

King Me

I’m going to Bakersfield to play bass for a murder mystery theater. Drat for miss Wednesday for a new WS. It’s all written and half recorded. Update. King Me is recorded. Here it is.

King Me

I look at you from across the room
I think that we could make it go boom boom
There’s something bout you that deactivates my mind
I lose myself cause I’m hoping to find
A way to cool down
A way to get wild
This isn’t typical it isn’t like me
I’m fixated on your mystery

King me, we’re gonna have a party
King me, we’re gonna hava a good time
King me

I must have had a little bit too much for me
The room is spinning and we’re making the scene
There must be ten million things I should have done
I’ll get right on it when I think of just one
It’s gonna get hotter
We’re gonna go hog wild
It’s still me here on the inside
I’m acting crazier than Mr. Hyde

King me, we’re gonna have a party
King me, we’re gonna hava a good time
King me

I’m living for the moment
I’m living for the good times
I’m gonna last until the sunrise
Cause I come alive when I look into your eyes

I’m waking up from a mummy’s tomb
My head is pounding and it goes boom boom
You might be mad if it happened to you
But I don’t know til I fully come to
My senses are tingling
I remember you
I remember oh yeah I like
It’s all coming back like riding a bike

King me, we’re gonna have a party
King me, we’re gonna hava a good time
King me

Happy Holidays

It’s a holiday song. Snow and misteltoe. There’s some ukelele and sleigh bells in there, too. Oh yeah, I also play a trombone solo. It’s the real thing. My mama bought me that horn when I went off the college to get the music knowledge. I wrote that song from my own lonesome heart. It’s also podsafe for you podcasters out there.

All I Want From Santa

I’ve been living on memories
Of how it used to be
I’d hold you in my arms so tight
On the cold December nights
All this work just to pay the bills
From so far across the hills
I’m stuck inside by the year’s first snow
With nowhere I can go

Hey, hey, hey Santa Clause
Whatcha got in that sleigh
Ho, Ho, Ho I wish it was
Someone that I know

All I want from Santa
All I need from Santa
All I want from Santa is you

When I get home we’ll decorate the tree
We’ll stoke the fire until it’s warm inside
On Christmas Eve I’ll get down on one knee
I’ll open my heart so wide
This love I cannot hide

Hey, hey, hey Santa Clause
Whatcha got in that sleigh
Ho, Ho, Ho I wish it was
Someone that I know

All I want from Santa
All I need from Santa
All I want from Santa is you
